The staff were very attentive. The hotel was well situated near the waterfront. The breakfasts were very good.
We like hotels with old world charm and character but the Wellesley seems quite run down and somewhat tired in general appearance.
Good, quiet and genteel atmosphere centrally located.
Basic room was a bit on the small side and didnt like the double bed pushed against an outside wall. Ok for single but not for double. Bathroom on the other hand was big with plenty of room. Full breakfast at $30 was expensive and you should consider making it an all inclusive B&B price.
The Hotel is simple and delivers (apart from some feather pillows I ordered up) what it says it will. In particular the staff who took me to the room and explained the lift, and the staff who were responsible for reserving a table in front of the fire for a business get together for me and the way they looked after my guests was most commendable.
Large, luxurious room in a beautiful old-style hotel
Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were just lovely, very comfortable and relaxing. We loved the decor and historical feel of the place.
I really enjoyed the 'olde world charm' which is created by the age and design of the building. It is so central but still very private. It does reflect its history and you can still sense that it was once a 'gentlemans' club'. The food was stunning and genuine cuisine served. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Really excited to discover that the hotel has function facilities and I believe they could do wonderful special occassion events e.g. weddings, anniversaries etc.
Everything. Great staff, fantastic location and brilliant use of an old building. Rooms very comfortable with great atmosphere. An excellent combination of old world charm and modern day standards and facilities.
It had old world flavor
A bit out dated. Not kept up very well. Adverts as luxury but is not luxury.
The welcome and friendliness of staff, the room style.
A huge shower but limited space for the toilet! Only having a 50MB Wifi allowance!
Being right in the heart of wellington city so you can walk or a quick taxi trip to any part of the city, The breakfast was brillant!!
No car parking is a problem and also I hate the little pottels of milk I perfer a fresh carton on arrival.
Very friendly staff
Air con wasn't going couldn't find the remote to get it going
The central location, its intimacy and history and, being so small, the feeling that you were a special guest
staff were friendly, smiley. They kept my luggage in the store room before check-in and after check- out so that I can walk around in town.Nice big bathroom. So quiet night and day.
I didn't like a big photo of old man( president od something) in the room, staring at me.Hope they had a stainless kettle instead of an old plastic one. There was only one staff in the morning to serve breakfast, and to serve people at the reception.had to wait for a while for my tea.I felt sorry for her doing everything on her own.
I liked the old world charm and friendly service. The breakfast was very good and prepared from scratch.
The standard room was very small but we were upgraded the next night to a lovely, spacious room. The standard room would be fine for a one-night business stay for one person.
Very friendly and knowledgable staff, excellent food, warm room, fantastic ambience - a great experience
